Downtown Wheaton goes Wireless in summer 2008!
Free WiFi will be provided by the County in the triangle area beginning next summer. The WiFi should encourage businesses to provide outdoor seating which will help improve the image of Wheaton by drawing more people to the downtown Wheaton area. The area of coverage would be between Veirs Mill Road, Georgia Avenue and University Boulevard.

WHEATON DESIGNATED AN ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT
Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr., announced on January 10, 2006 that Wheaton is the most recent designee of the Arts and Entertainment District program. The program enables local and county governments to apply for the Arts and Entertainment district designation. “We are pleased to award this important designation to Wheaton, which is known as a hub of music and culture, unique retailers and many ethnic and family-owned restaurants,” said Governor Ehrlich. “Wheaton joins 11 other districts which are helping to further our goals for increased economic and community development by encouraging neighborhood revitalization and improving the attractiveness and safety of the areas.”
